Birds
are an excellent first sculpture project! They are familiar to students and
are made with nice simple shapes.
Birds can be made with any sculpture medium. Choices include kiln-fired
clay (firing not included), air-dry clay or plastiscene.
The bird pictured above is made with potter's clay, bisque-fired then glazed
and re-fired. Similar sculptures can be acheived using clay or air-dry clay
and paint. Ordinary dry-clear white glue will make a glossy coating!
Many birds have been made as Mother's Day gifts!
