"Pen & Ink Birds" Grades 4 - 7

Learn the art of basic pen & ink skills. This introductory lesson is recommended for your class before attempting other lessons in pen & ink!

I recommend using black fine tip felt pens (Pilot Fineliners or Sharpies are excellent.)

Learn all the basic strokes used to create line, shading and texture then use those new skills to create a pen & ink illustration.

Students should select a photo to use as reference that contains a variety of tones. I have many reference images; please let me know if you’d like me to bring photos of a particular subject or your students may gather their own photos!
