Watercolour Supplies

Supplies:

--- Paper - 8.5”x11” white photocopy paper (not drawing paper, please)
or
--- Watercolour Paper 8”x10" or larger

--- Liquid Tempera Paint – in squirt bottles, please! - Red, Yellow, Blue & Black
or
--- Watercolour Paints (tubes) in the same colours (I buy W&N Cotman student grade watercolours. They look great & the big tubes are reasonably priced (should last 90 - 120 palettes). I like alizarin crimson, payne's grey (black), lemon yellow & ultramarine blue.

--- Pencils & Erasers

--- Water (sink access - if no sink is available you will need about 20 litres of cold water... in buckets, hopefully :-) )

--- White Paper Towels (for colour testing, blotting- 1 per student)

--- I will bring brushes (for liquid mediums only), palettes & water pots.
(If hard pans, kits or blocks are being used, we will need to use your brushes, as mine are not suitable for this purpose.)

Please let me know ahead of time if watercolour kits are to be used! I'll bring mine. Thanks!
Remember, if kits are used each student will need to use his or her own brush.

If you wish to make the best use of your supply budget, watercolour paper makes a BIG difference in the finished product while watercolour paints only make a small difference. Always opt for better paper if given the chance!

Classroom set up:
• I will need an open floor area to gather everyone for a short demonstration and then we’ll be working at the desks/tables. No table needed for the demonstration… I’ll bring my workbox to allow everyone a good view!
• I will need a clear table or counter area to lay out palettes & water pots for students.
• Please get everyone to clear desks (except for things they’ll need.) We’ll have more art time!
• A flip-chart page is the best option for the directed drawing part of this lesson. It allows me to use colour & shading. I can also do the lesson using the chalkboard or whiteboard.
